Introduction
These Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy ("Terms," "Policy," or "Agreement") govern your access to and use of the After the Loss website, digital products, free resources, email forms, downloads, content, and any related services made available through aftertheloss.net.
For purposes of this page, "aftertheloss.net," "After the Loss," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the website, brand, owner, operator, and authorized representatives. "You" and "your" refer to any visitor, user, subscriber, customer, purchaser, download recipient, or person who interacts with this website.
By using this website, submitting a form, requesting a free resource, clicking a link, downloading content, or purchasing a digital product, you agree to these Terms and this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use this website, submit information, request resources, or purchase any product.
1. Website Purpose
After the Loss provides digital educational, informational, and organizational resources intended to help families in the United States navigate practical steps that may arise before or after a death, including urgent decisions, document organization, notifications, funeral-related planning, digital account concerns, administrative tasks, and other practical matters connected to loss.
After the Loss is designed as a practical guide and planning resource. It may include general guidance, checklists, appendices, companion notes, worksheets, and digital downloads intended to help users understand what information may be needed, what questions may arise, and where qualified professional assistance may be appropriate.
After the Loss is not a professional advisory service and is not intended to collect, store, manage, or review your completed documents, private family information, legal documents, financial records, medical records, or personal case details.
2. U.S. Audience Only
This website, its digital products, free resources, and offers are intended for customers and users located in the United States.
The information is U.S.-oriented and may not apply outside the United States. Laws, procedures, document rules, emergency practices, healthcare systems, privacy requirements, estate rules, funeral practices, probate rules, tax rules, government office procedures, and institutional policies vary by state, county, agency, provider, and individual circumstance.
If you access this website from outside the United States, you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for complying with any applicable local laws.
3. Informational and Organizational Use Only - No Professional Advice
All content, guides, downloads, checklists, templates, emails, free resources, paid digital products, appendices, companion notes, and other materials provided by aftertheloss.net are for informational, educational, and organizational purposes only.
Nothing on this website or in any After the Loss product constitutes legal, tax, financial, medical, psychological, therapeutic, funeral, estate-planning, probate, insurance, real-estate, digital-security, cybersecurity, grief counseling, bereavement counseling, or other professional advice.
Use of this website, submission of a form, receipt of a free resource, or purchase of a product does not create any attorney-client, therapist-client, physician-patient, financial advisor-client, funeral director-client, tax advisor-client, insurance advisor-client, or other professional relationship.
You should consult qualified professionals before making decisions with legal, financial, tax, medical, psychological, funeral, estate, probate, insurance, real-estate, digital-account, family, caregiving, or other significant consequences.
4. No Emergency or Crisis Service
After the Loss does not provide emergency services, crisis response, medical treatment, mental health treatment, suicide prevention, abuse intervention, legal intervention, urgent funeral-provider support, urgent security support, or urgent professional support.
If you are experiencing an emergency, medical crisis, mental health crisis, immediate danger, suspected abuse, risk of harm, or life-threatening situation, contact emergency services, a crisis hotline, a medical professional, law enforcement, or another appropriate qualified professional in your location.
Do not rely on this website or any After the Loss material for urgent, emergency, or life-threatening situations.
5. Important Privacy and Safety Notice for Post-Loss Information
After the Loss may help you organize practical information after a death or in preparation for loss, but you should not submit death certificates, wills, trusts, estate documents, probate filings, medical records, diagnoses, Social Security numbers, full account numbers, government ID numbers, tax returns, passwords, bank credentials, legal case details, insurance claim files, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary website forms or email unless we specifically request it for a stated purpose.
After the Loss is intended to help users understand what information may be needed and where important documents may be located. For security, you should generally record locations, contacts, instructions, and references rather than sending or storing complete sensitive documents in unsecured formats.
We do not host, store, review, manage, or verify your completed family documents, estate records, financial records, medical records, funeral records, or completed checklists unless a separate service expressly says so in writing. You are responsible for deciding where to store your completed files and who may access them.
6. Digital Products Only
All products sold or offered through this website are digital products or digital resources. No physical product will be shipped.
By purchasing from this website or through a linked checkout page, you understand and agree that you are purchasing or receiving digital content delivered electronically, such as PDF guides, printable PDFs, fillable PDFs, checklists, templates, appendices, companion notes, ZIP files, downloads, or other digital files.
After the Loss products may include one or more digital files, bundles, editions, appendices, updates, or free resources. Product descriptions may identify specific files, formats, page counts, bonuses, or companion materials available at the time of purchase.
7. Orders, Pricing, Availability, and Product Changes
We reserve the right to modify, update, remove, discontinue, rename, repackage, reprice, or revise any digital product, free resource, description, offer, bonus, download, website section, or related content at any time without prior notice.
We also reserve the right to refuse, cancel, restrict, or decline access to any order, request, download, form submission, or transaction where necessary for security, technical, legal, operational, payment, fraud-prevention, abuse-prevention, or compliance reasons.
Prices, descriptions, edition names, product contents, download access, bonuses, file names, appendices, and availability may change at any time.
8. Gumroad, Checkout, Payments, and Digital Delivery
After the Loss may sell digital products through Gumroad or other third-party checkout, payment, delivery, or digital commerce platforms, including platforms that may use Stripe, PayPal, card networks, digital wallets, or other payment services.
When you click a purchase button, checkout link, product link, or Gumroad link, you may be redirected to Gumroad or another third-party platform. Your purchase, payment processing, tax handling, order confirmation, digital delivery, refund process, account access, and certain customer data may be handled by Gumroad or the applicable third-party platform.
Gumroad and other third-party platforms operate under their own terms, privacy policies, refund rules, payment procedures, security practices, dispute procedures, buyer protection rules, seller protection rules, and customer-support systems. We do not control those independent policies or systems.
After the Loss does not directly store or process your full credit card number or full payment card information when payments are handled through Gumroad or another external payment processor.
9. Refund Policy - Digital Products / All Sales Final
All After the Loss products are digital products delivered electronically. No physical product will be shipped.
Because digital products can be accessed, downloaded, copied, saved, printed, or used immediately after delivery, all sales are final. We do not offer refunds, returns, exchanges, cancellations, or credits for digital products once access, delivery, download, or purchase fulfillment has been provided, except where required by applicable law or mandatory third-party platform rules.
By completing your purchase, you acknowledge and agree that:
(a) you are purchasing digital content;
(b) no physical item will be shipped;
(c) access to the files may be provided immediately or shortly after purchase;
(d) once digital access or delivery has been provided, the product is considered delivered;
(e) you are responsible for reviewing the product description, file format, compatibility information, refund policy, and Terms before purchasing; and
(f) dissatisfaction, change of mind, accidental purchase, failure to read the product description, misunderstanding of the digital nature of the product, lack of need for the product after purchase, or inability to use the product due to personal preference does not create a right to a refund.
9.1 Defective Files, Corrupted Files, or Technical Delivery Issues
The only standard exception to this No Refund Policy applies when a digital file is proven to be defective, corrupted, inaccessible, or not delivered due to a technical issue that we are able to verify.
If you experience difficulty downloading, opening, or accessing your purchased files, you must contact us at support@aftertheloss.net within 14 days of purchase and provide:
(a) your order email address;
(b) the purchase date;
(c) the name of the product purchased;
(d) a description of the issue;
(e) screenshots or error messages, where available; and
(f) the device, operating system, browser, PDF reader, ZIP extraction tool, or other relevant software used.
We will make reasonable efforts to resolve the issue, which may include resending the download link, providing a replacement file, suggesting a different PDF reader, browser, or ZIP extraction method, or otherwise assisting with access.
If we determine that the file is defective or corrupted and we cannot provide a working replacement copy within a reasonable time, a refund may be issued at our discretion, except where applicable law or mandatory third-party platform rules require otherwise.
9.2 Non-Delivery Claims
If you believe you did not receive access to the purchased digital product, you must contact us at support@aftertheloss.net within 14 days of purchase.
Before requesting support, please check your spam, junk, promotions, and other filtered email folders and confirm that the purchase email address was entered correctly.
If our records or the applicable third-party platform’s records show that the product was delivered, accessed, downloaded, or made available to the purchase email address, the order will be considered fulfilled.
9.3 File Compatibility
After the Loss products may include PDF files, fillable PDF files, ZIP files, checklists, templates, appendices, companion notes, or other digital formats. Customers are responsible for using compatible software, devices, browsers, PDF readers, and ZIP extraction tools.
We do not guarantee that every file will display, format, or function identically on every device, browser, operating system, PDF reader, cloud platform, or software environment.
Compatibility issues caused by a customer’s device, outdated software, browser settings, third-party apps, inability to open ZIP files, or personal technical environment do not automatically qualify for a refund. However, we may provide reasonable support or replacement delivery where appropriate.
9.4 Third-Party Checkout and Platform Rules
If your purchase is completed through Gumroad, Stripe, PayPal, or another third-party checkout, payment, or digital delivery platform, your purchase may also be subject to that platform’s terms, refund procedures, dispute procedures, buyer protection rules, seller protection rules, and technical systems.
Where a third-party platform’s mandatory rules require a different result, those mandatory rules may control.
9.5 Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Before opening a chargeback, payment dispute, PayPal claim, or similar payment reversal, you agree to contact us first at support@aftertheloss.net so we can attempt to resolve any access, download, delivery, or file issue.
If a chargeback, payment dispute, PayPal claim, or similar payment reversal is opened after the digital product has been delivered, accessed, downloaded, or made available, we reserve the right to submit evidence to the payment processor, platform, card network, bank, or dispute reviewer. This evidence may include the order record, product description, refund policy, Terms of Service, checkout consent record, download/access logs, delivery confirmation, email correspondence, support history, IP address, timestamp, and other relevant transaction records.
9.6 No Refunds for Unauthorized Sharing or Misuse
No refund will be issued where we reasonably believe the product has been downloaded, accessed, copied, shared, redistributed, misused, resold, or otherwise used in violation of these Terms.
9.7 Legal Exceptions
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits any non-waivable rights that may apply under applicable law. If any part of this Refund Policy is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Free Resources
We may offer free resources, including downloadable PDFs, checklists, email-delivered materials, starter guides, forms, or other educational content, such as the First 48 Hours Family Action Worksheet or similar resources.
Free resources are provided for personal, non-commercial use only. We reserve the right to modify, replace, restrict, discontinue, or remove any free resource at any time without prior notice.
Submitting a form to request a free resource does not guarantee that the resource will always remain available or that delivery will be uninterrupted, immediate, or error-free.
11. Email Forms, Free Downloads, and Marketing Communications
When you submit your name, email address, or other information through a form on this website, including a form used to request a free resource such as the First 48 Hours Family Action Worksheet, we may use that information to send the resource you requested, confirm your request, respond to your inquiry, provide customer support, send follow-up information related to After the Loss, send educational content, updates, announcements, offers, product information, promotions, and marketing communications, improve our website and products, and maintain operational, security, legal, and compliance records.
By submitting your email address through a form on this website, you understand that your email address may be used for follow-up communications and marketing campaigns related to After the Loss, where permitted by applicable law.
You may unsubscribe or opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe method provided in the email, replying with an opt-out request where applicable, or contacting us at support@aftertheloss.net.
Even if you opt out of marketing emails, we may still send non-marketing communications when necessary, such as purchase confirmations, download information, customer-service messages, legal notices, security notices, or responses to your direct requests.
We aim to comply with applicable commercial email rules, including clear sender identification, accurate subject lines, a reasonable opt-out method, and inclusion of a valid physical postal address in marketing emails where required. The business mailing address must be completed before sending marketing emails where a mailing address is legally required.
12. Information We May Collect
We may collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, including name, email address, form responses, message content, download requests, product inquiries, customer-support communications, purchase-related information made available to us through Gumroad or another third-party platform, marketing preferences or email engagement information, and any other information you choose to submit through this website or related communication channels.
We may also collect limited technical or usage information through website tools, hosting systems, analytics tools, security tools, anti-spam tools, cookies, or similar technologies, such as browser type, device type, IP address, pages visited, general usage data, form submission timestamps, referral source, approximate location derived from technical data, and interaction with website links or emails.
12.1 Purchase, Delivery, Download, and Consent Records
For customer support, fraud prevention, legal compliance, payment dispute management, chargeback response, refund review, and enforcement of these Terms, we or our third-party checkout, payment, and delivery providers may collect and retain records related to purchases, checkout consent, product delivery, download access, refund requests, support communications, timestamps, IP addresses, email delivery records, product access records, transaction history, and related technical or operational records.
These records may be used to verify purchase fulfillment, confirm digital delivery, respond to customer support requests, investigate suspected misuse, respond to chargebacks or payment disputes, enforce our Refund Policy, comply with legal, tax, accounting, security, or platform requirements, and protect After the Loss, its customers, and its business operations.
13. Sensitive Information We Do Not Intend to Collect
We do not intend to collect highly sensitive personal information through ordinary website forms. You should not submit death certificates, Social Security numbers, full financial account numbers, full payment card numbers, passwords, medical records, diagnoses, legal files, estate documents, tax documents, insurance claim files, probate documents, wills, trusts, confidential family information, or other highly sensitive materials through ordinary website forms or email unless we specifically request them for a stated purpose.
If you voluntarily send sensitive information anyway, you do so at your own risk. We may delete, refuse, or ignore such information when it is not necessary for the purpose of the communication.
13.1 Customer Use of Downloaded Files
After the Loss does not access, view, collect, store, or monitor the information customers enter into downloaded files unless a customer voluntarily sends that information to us for support or communication purposes.
If a customer chooses to upload, edit, store, or share After the Loss files through a third-party service, such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, email, a cloud PDF editor, or another cloud or document service, that use is subject to the privacy practices, security settings, and terms of the third-party service selected by the customer.
14. How We Use Information
We may use collected information to operate and maintain the website; provide free resources; deliver digital products; process purchases and customer requests; communicate with you; send marketing communications where permitted; improve products, resources, website content, user experience, and customer service; monitor website performance and security; prevent fraud, abuse, spam, unauthorized access, or misuse; comply with legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, security, or operational obligations; enforce these Terms; and protect our rights, property, users, customers, and business operations.
15. Legal Bases for Processing Where GDPR Applies
Where the General Data Protection Regulation or similar privacy law applies, we may process personal information based on one or more lawful bases, including your consent, performance of a contract or pre-contractual request, compliance with legal obligations, and legitimate interests such as operating the website, responding to inquiries, preventing abuse, improving services, and maintaining business records.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent where applicable. Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal or processing based on another lawful basis.
16. Cookies, Analytics, reCAPTCHA, and Similar Technologies
This website may use cookies, analytics tools, tracking technologies, Google reCAPTCHA or similar protection tools, and related technologies to support basic website functionality, improve user experience, measure website traffic, understand visitor behavior, prevent spam, protect security, and evaluate marketing performance.
You may be able to manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect website functionality, form submission, analytics, checkout redirection, spam prevention, or other features.
Third-party services may also use cookies or similar technologies according to their own policies.
17. Third-Party Services
This website and its related operations may use third-party services, including but not limited to Gumroad for digital product checkout, payment processing, tax handling, product delivery, customer access, and transaction-related services; email providers; website hosting providers; domain providers; analytics tools; security tools; anti-spam tools; Google reCAPTCHA or similar protection tools; form tools; cloud storage or file delivery tools; and other technical, operational, payment, or marketing service providers.
Third-party providers may collect, process, store, transfer, or receive information according to their own privacy policies and terms. We are not responsible for the independent policies, data practices, security practices, technical failures, service interruptions, platform changes, payment decisions, account restrictions, or other actions of third-party providers.
18. Data Sharing and Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense of directly exchanging your personal information for money.
We may share information with service providers or third-party platforms when necessary to operate the website, deliver free resources, send emails, process purchases, provide digital downloads, use Gumroad or other checkout platforms, manage technical systems, prevent fraud or abuse, comply with legal obligations, protect rights, or enforce these Terms.
We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, court order, subpoena, government request, regulatory obligation, or to protect rights, safety, security, property, users, customers, or the public.
19. Data Retention
We may retain collected information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide requested resources, manage customer relationships, maintain business records, process purchases, support downloads and customer service, send marketing communications unless you opt out, comply with legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, and operational requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
We may delete, anonymize, archive, or retain information according to our operational needs and applicable law.
20. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
You may contact us at support@aftertheloss.net to request that we review, update, correct, restrict, or delete information you have provided, subject to legal, technical, operational, security, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, or recordkeeping limitations.
You may opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe option provided in the email or by contacting us directly. Please understand that deleting certain information may affect our ability to provide resources, customer support, purchase verification, download support, or other services.
Where GDPR or similar law applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent where applicable, or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, subject to the limits and conditions of applicable law.

We do not knowingly sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in a way that we control, unless a future service or tool is configured to do so and the required notices and choices are provided. Third-party tools may process information according to their own policies.
To make a privacy request, contact support@aftertheloss.net. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
